About the festival

MUICA African Film Festival (MUICA Muestra Itinerante de Cine Africano) is a biennial event in five cities in Colombia, which presents African and Afro-diasporic films, during May, month of African heritage in Colombia. MUICA works on the creation of audiences, nurturing the imaginary about the African continent in South America, and contributing to bridge those gaps left by colonial narratives, dominant cultural initiatives and structural inequality and racism. The event takes place in independent cinemas, cultural centres, universities, public libraries, schools and neighborhoods of the urban periphery, with the aim of strengthening historical and contemporary links between regions of the Global South through arts and culture.
