About the festival

Afriques en vision is an invitation to take a fresh look at African societies, through the stories of the continent’s new generation of filmmakers and the (re)discovery of pioneers who have set the standard for the 7th African art. The festival’s programming is conceived in collaboration with various partners from the African continent and New Aquitaine: Documentary Africa (DocA-Kenya), the International Documentary Festival of Agadir (FIDADOC – Morocco), the Africiné platform (Sénégal-Monde), Cinéma Utopia in Bordeaux and the Chaire d’Excellence Diasporas Africaines et Transculturalités (Université Bordeaux Montaigne).
Afriques en vision combines screenings, debates, young audience programs and professional meetings all in a convivial atmosphere and close contact with audiences and guests. Afriques en vision is a collective cinema experience to understand Africa and the world from an African perspective!
The event is held every year at the end of November at Cinéma Utopia Bordeaux. The program also circulates in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region (at Filmer le travail in Poitiers, Escales documentaires in La Rochelle, Théâtre de Gascogne in Mont-de-Marsan…).
The 5th edition of the Festival Afriques en vision will take place from November 27 to December 1, 2025 in Bordeaux! Program to come.
